The weather has been hot, and humid. That's old news to anyone who lives in the Ohio River Valley. It seems like the days have simultaneously been flying by and moving in slow motion.

Why is it my carnivorous plants always want to bloom in winter? Last year it was my Drosera adelae that decided to flower out-of-season. This year, it is my Sarracenia purpurea. Sarras are temperate! It should be going dormant for the winter! Argh!

Back from Florida. I would have posted while I was down there, but I didn't have access to electricity, much less internet on this trip. ( To spare friends' pages, my trip is behind the cut. )

Was to see my Drosera adelae (Australian Lance-leaf Sundew, for those not in the know) in bloom for the first time. Here's a macro photo of the first flower stalk. The whole bunch of flowers can fit on your fingernail.

Well, it seems even the plants are getting into the spirit. My utricularia have put up new flower stalks, after the move caused them to drop their previous ones this summer. No surprise there.
